I was gonna let this die, but Dan requested new ones. Four rather odd random photos from my photo stream tonight. (Updated 14OCT2018)

Good night, John-Boy.

Forum announcements of bedtimes seem weird but I don't know anymore.

Oh cool  :Tup2: I don't have one (printer that is...or a mac actually  grint) but my brother has a few, both bought and made. The first thing he did when he got one was print components for another printer lol. It's fascinating stuff, he printed up bits and pieces for the inside of my mum's car (knobs and stuff) which I thought was great. I can't wait to see where the technology goes

LOL, my boy immediately used the filament that came with the 3D printer to print upgrades for the printer. He's also printed an air conditioning knob for his friend; clips to join my magic trapped to my magic keyboard; a small form factor computer case and accoutrements; a replacement grip for my Browning 1911; several figurines; a craft box (for separating screws), and, well, anything that strikes his fancy.

There's a digital knitting machine being released later this year or next.  I don't remember.  But you design sweaters, slippers, whatever on the computer and the machine will knit them for you, with whatever designs or patterns you come up with.

Every night before I go to bed, I replace the four random images with four new ones, and change the title. The 3D printer was one of yesterday's photos. Today's thread title is a quote from Shakespeare.

Yeah, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is way better than vegetable oil, but it's so much more expensive. I've also found that hand-whisking VO over EVOO results in a faster blend of the ingredients at room temperature. I think it has something to do with an extra or fewer polypeptide chain or something.

Do you dip your egg in boiling water for 20seconds to avoid salmonella?

Have you tried adding just a pinch of mustard powder? My aunt does that and I have to say it add just a little something without saying is there mustard in this.

Show off! I think my arm would fall off about 1 minute into whisking.
That's why we have guys around to carry heavy things and whisk things when the blender breaks.

Hollandaise sauce?

Hollandaise uses butter instead of oil. If your going for something lovely like that don't skimp on the flavor.

I don't dip the egg. I'm not too concerned with salmonella since the mayo gets used within a week. Sometimes I'll add a dab of spicy mustard, sometimes I'll grind up mustard seeds with a pestle and mortar. I'm usually making mustard anyway.

I had to go with Hollandaise.  The butter could have been behind the vinegar and oil.  ;)

I figured mayo was too pedestrian an answer and the sauce I wanted to name I couldn't remember.  As I recall, it's made with the same ingredients as mayo but there's something's different about it that makes it a sauce rather than a spread.

I can't make out the brand.  I almost had a top-notch audio mixer or processor years ago.  It was on eBay.  Towards the end of the auction, I feared I had bid too high and hoped and hoped for a sniper.  Got down to the wire but someone finally outbid me.  It had a neat history too.  It had been used by some big name company.  I want to say Disney but I don't remember with certainty.

This is an extremely cool thread, and I love the idea of random photos. I, on the other hand, couldn't do it. I would come out mostly with my dog if I truly left it random. I take a lot of pictures of my dog. And food. And weird things in the yard, many gross and weird things in the yard. (Great horned owl leaves pellets and the bald eagle drops partially eaten fish).

I loved writing on older typewriters (especially manual) before they were cool!  Or after!  Or actually, at the point in between when they were practical and when they were retro-cool.  Alas, no longer; too hard on the hands/wrists.

And weird things in the yard, many gross and weird things in the yard. (Great horned owl leaves pellets and the bald eagle drops partially eaten fish).

The birds of WISDOM and PATRIOTISM have GIFTED you with their GOO.  Have gratitude!

But it is easy for me to talk since I just receive PELLETS of POO from the fertility-representative with long ears.

Okay, true story time: Back in the olden days, by which I mean way back in the early 1990's, I had to type school papers on a typewriter.  Once, I was getting set to get started, and I thought I had everything ready.  Paper, notes, comfy chair, etc.  I even had a nice tall glass of orange juice with me so I could sip while I worked and keep my energy up.

Unfortunately, I forgot about that whole "carriage return" thing.  As soon as I got to the end of the first line, the carriage shot off to one side and smacked my orange juice like Babe Ruth on a hanging slider.  Juice went everywhere.  My work was, alas, delayed.

Okay, you can't go around flaunting your rows and rows...and rows...of chocolates without giving up the recipe. :)
its a sekrit. We were figuring out the cost to make and ship a limited number, and we determined that $50 for a half dozen was the right price point with a decent ROI. We tried it one year, and doc out within a few hours. It was a lot of work, so we haven't repeated it, although we get ensues asking to be the first to be notified if we do it again.

Hey, all, we had to put Stubby (yes, the hero dog by the same name is my Stubby) down today six weeks shy of his tenth birthday, so we're emotionally exhausted today. I'll resume boring you all with random photos tomorrow. (well probably not random-- tomorrow will be a stubby tribute.)

I'm so very sorry to hear that, Mark. Losing a pet is devastating. I hope your family can come together and heal.

It's just as well that the forum was down for a few days whilst relocating. I'm in a better headspace after putting Stubby down on Friday.

Stubby was a truly beautiful boy. You can see the happiness in his eyes. I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's hard, I know. Right now, what I see in those photos is how wonderful you made his life.

Thank you for the condolences, everybody. Erika has already written a children's book dealing with the loss of a pet, so as soon as I get a nice royalty check, I'll hire the same illustrator for the ABC series to do the Stubby children's book.

Money, money, money.  Why do we have no money emoji?  Sad.
When my financial institution was a bank, I'd order 2-dollar notes to give as change when selling books at events. When I switched to a credit union, they apparently are better than a bank, except that they have banker's hours, can't get me 2-dollar notes, can't finance a car when I have mid-700 credit rating plus a $3000 down payment, have sh*ttier interest rates, and fewer teller windows.

I haven't seen a $2 bill in years. My kids think I'm pulling their leg that such a thing exists. Do they still print them?

oh yeah, they printed a run in 2006, then again in 2012. If you’re financial institution is a member of the FDIC, then they can buy 2-dollar notes from the treasury. They may try to tell you that you have to buy the stack, but stick to your guns and get what you need.

Alas, my bank doesn't have any local outlets, but I shall live in hope of getting one the natural way. I always liked $2 bills. :)

You can also buy uncut sheets from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.  (link (https://catalog.usmint.gov/currency/uncut-currency/?cm_sp=LP1-_-bep-uncut-_-100118))  It'll cost more than face value, but pretty neat to have an uncut sheet of currency.

The "big sellers" probably use those uncut sheets as wrapping paper.   :hehe

try walking into your institution and asking for some 2-dollar notes. They may have them on hand, or they’ll have to order them. Or are you saying that don’t have a brick and mortar branch?

Ooops, didn't see this! Right, no branches. We use USAA (for military families), so everything is at a distance.

Funny, the $2 bills in your picture look so retro! I've gotten used to the redesigned currency.

gotcha. I have a navy federal account out there somewhere. You could also just walk into a bank and ask to purchase 2-dollar notes. If you have a friend that has an account at a bank, they can purchase them on your behalf. The ban orders the notes, and then disburse them, so you don't have to saddle your friend with holding your money.

I just might do that. I have to admit, the whimsy of waiting for one to come my way is appealing, but it doesn't actually seem to be working ...
