Is it worth running AMS Ads for English language books on the German site?

Probably not.

Unlike FB, AA can't define an audience tightly enough and you'd probably get a lot of clicks that would not result in sales. The German market has a lot of titles with English words in them--they seem to be accustomed to that--but most people prefer to read in their native language.
Never listen to people with no skin in the game.

I'm a lucky guy. I find the harder I work, the luckier I am.

Those who prefer their English sloppy have only themselves to thank if the advertisement writer uses his mastery of the vocabulary and syntax to mislead their weak minds.

Really, it depends. Don't bother with an automatic ad - those don't seem to work for UK or DE.

I have a friend who has done VERY well in .DE, managing to get an additional a lot of additional sales and increasing the % of his sales. My own experience since the 6th has seen 10 sales (36 Euros) for the cost of 10 Euros. That's for one book.

Another 2 series have gotten exactly 0 sales. But also, like... 4 Euros spent. They just don't search for the terms. So i need to play with it a little more.

Biggest advantage - DE is currently very, very cheap.

(...) but most people prefer to read in their native language.

I'm not so sure about that. There are a lot of foreigners living here and many (foreigners and, mostly young, Germans) speak English good enough they could/ do read English books. E.g., we went to the Joker movie last thursday and the room was full; Netflix/ Amazon prime sometimes launch movies only with German subtitles and add synchronisation later (or never because there is none), our biggest book store in town center has several shelves of English books in the entrance area.
Within my bubble of fantasy authors, a lot of them say they tend to read English books because they can't find what they like in German books. (Translations are common but, how it is, the one book you're looking for is not. :icon_mrgreen: Like good books about writing.) They are also usually people who read books with diverse characters (POC, gay, etc.).

So I wouldn't say it's an absolute waste. The potential is there, question's just how big it is (and within which genres).

Interesting. I experimented with a few (auto and targeted) but no joy. I think I'll up the no. of keywords and give another whirl.

I have a few ads running in the UK too, one is getting impressions, about 2,500 so far and 5 clicks @ 0.08p per click. Should I somehow adjust that do you think are just leave it be?

Is that 80p? Because if so that's a lot of money ($1.20 US or more?)  If it's 8p, feel free to ignore me.

Sorry, that's 0.08p (I corrected it)

Thought it might be, but I mentioned it in case you were running up a large ad bill.

I'd normally just look at more keywords. Really, it's hard to get proper numbers until you get at least 30-40 clicks. Don't forget, it can take up to 2 weeks for things to be assigned for sales, so you might see sales happen later.

I generally am not a fan of adjusting things immediately, unless it's costing you a lot of money. I just let things play out and check in 2-4 weeks, adding more keywords only if I am not seeing a huge number of impression / not a lot of spend (for what I need for my budget).

I will take this advice.
Thanks.
