Is it just me... KU / KOLL Question
« on: October 07, 2018, 12:33:30 AM »
Did the KDP KU and KOLL read totals stop for everyone, about ten days ago?  Or, is it just me?

Real sales and the free stories continue to tally but the KU totals went from mediocre to zero.

UPDATE 08-Oct-18: Numerous folks indicate there is something strange with the summary: Kindle Edition Normalized Pages (KENP) Read from KU and KOLL.

An eMail sent to KDP has yet to be answered.

Cheers,
Ruairi

Probably just you.

Check the book(s) are still enrolled.

Check the KENPC values. A while back a few people reported their KENPC had changed to double figures for no apparent reason.

The other thing is, once you drop too far down the ranks, you become unfindable in KU, and so reads stop. Especially if you are not running an AMS ad.
Genres: Space Opera/Fantasy/Cyberpunk, with elements of LitRPG and GameLit, with a touch of the Supernatural. Also Spiritual and Games.

Around mid-September my page reads dropped to zero for almost a week (after 18mths of consistent daily reads). After the 2nd day I borrowed my own book and tested by reading a chapter. Two days later when no read reads had registered, I tested again with a 2nd book and still nothing showed, even with forced syncing of my device. The next day I contacted them. They replied and asked me for details of ASINs for the books I'd read, dates, and the KU account email, so I read another chapter of each book and provided them with specific location start and end details as well as the info of the previous reads that hadn't shown up.  They replied that there was definitely something wrong, but they had to send it to the 'tech' team, then a few days later replied again to say they needed more time to investigate. I haven't heard any more, but magically my reads started showing up again, and I know they've got heaps of other screw ups they're dealing with, so I was letting that week ride for now.

HOWEVER, it's now been 36hrs since my read count last changed. If there's still no change by tomorrow I'll be following up with them again.  Something definitely happened to stop my reads registering mid-September. I'm hoping it hasn't happened again. It's frustrating to have to keep guessing whether their reporting is just delayed, or if the magical switch has been hit and nothing's being registered at all.

Some reads have now appeared for yesterday on my report, so I think it’s just really delayed reporting this time.
If your instincts are saying something is off, find a way to test then contact KDP and ask them to investigate.
