That's the question.

At $200, it's a lot cheaper than a BB, but it's still a good chunk of change. Since I recently lowered most of my prices to permafree and 99c, I'll have to sell a boatload of the second and third in series.

So, anyone tried this feature? If so, how did it do for you?

I'm running one in a week, on a 9 book series with a permafree first book. Genre is science fiction. We'll see how it goes.

I'm also running a Book Barbarian double feature on the same series, though, so YMMV.

Also, it'll take about three months to properly crunch the numbers.

I didn't notice this earlier, or I'd have spoken, erm written, I mean. I'm wondering (translation: hoping) the series thing has gotten legs. About 3 years ago, it didn't have them.

You are so right. I'm always getting emails from the site a couple of days after the ad asking me how it went. How should I know? It will be weeks if not months before the sell-thrus show up.

Got an email a couple of hours ago that the newsletters just went out. I'm seeing about 300 downloads on my KDP dashboard right now.

More than 800 downloads on my KDP dashboards so far, with four sales of book 2. Thirty-five downloads on Kobo, no sales of book 2. So far, it's on track to mirror the regular Freebooksy promo I ran on another series two weeks ago.

I like the idea of the second book at 99c and then up to $2.99 after that. You should have good sell-thru at those prices and with so many books.

I've experimented with a number of different pricing schemes with my Star Wanderers and Sons of the Starfarers series. Here's what I've found:

1. If book 1 is not free, sales of book 1 will not correlate with sales of subsequent books.
2. If book 2 is not 99¢, free downloads of book 1 will not correlate with paid sales of book 2.
3. If book 1 is free and book 2 is 99¢, there will be a strong correlation between free downloads of book 1 and paid sales for the rest of the books in the series.

My KDP dashboard is showing ~1,100 free downloads today and ~15 paid sales through the rest of the series. It's almost an exact mirror image of the regular Freebooksy feature that I ran two weeks ago.

The question is whether the series feature creates more of a long tail. Unfortunately, I'm running a Book Barbarian double feature on the 18th, so it's going to be tricky to figure out which promotion is responsible for what part of that tail. But if neither of them results in much of a tail, that should be easy to see.

Well, this is interesting. When I ran the regular feature, I saw a little less than 200 downloads on my KDP dashboard the day after the promo. Today, I saw almost 400. Also seeing more sales, too.

Third day, and my KDP dashboard is showing a little less than 300 downloads for Brothers in Exile—much more than the 100 or so with the regular promotion. I suspect that my other free and permafree titles are getting a small boost as well. Almost 20 sales for book 2 so far this month, and I've already seen sell-through to the end of the series (this is just KDP).

It appears that the series feature hits about the same highs as the regular feature, but definitely has more legs.
