Don't know if you remember me. I haven't been here in several years because of my health. Haven't written anything in that long, too. Still having trouble typing and dictating. But I'm going to attempt to get back into it by completing the four book series I had only half completed. Just to put my toe in the water, I'm doing a prequel, but I might not even publish it.

I thought I would participate in the Smashwords July sale just to test the viability of my previous work. It's a long shot, but I miss writing so much.

I think I'll look into Substack. It might be a better option for me since I'm much slower now.
It's wonderful to see you again!

Substack has people writing at a lot of different paces, and serials that have posts once or week or less (as long as the pattern is somewhat regular) or short standalones definitely have an audience there. Also, a number of substacks put out prompts intended to generate flash fiction or something like that, and particularly if those are connected to one or more of the genre days, other participants will find and read you.

If you want to draw attention to your previous books, a good teaser works. A short connected to one of your published books works. I have definitely sold books there.

Subscriber growth can be slow (and most of them will be free rather than paid), but the platform remains a good place to reach an audience.

Hey, Maggie Ann.   :mhk9U91:

Sorry to hear about your health problems.  Seems like a lot of us have been dealing with some malady or other the past few years.

Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard. An allegory of the Christian life. It reminds me very much of the movie Inside Out, where all the emotions are characters.

Loved Inside Out. There's a sequel, but I don't know if it's been released yet.

Currently reading The Imperial China Trilogy. I'm on the third book (Dynasty) which I already read and loved. Didn't know there were two previous books (Manchu and Mandarin). I promised myself I would read all three in the month of June, but they are about 800 pages each. I'm a fast reader but I couldn't do it. I really wanted to make a start on my TBR list in July with Three Men in a Boat. I'm going to stick to it and start that one today (it's after midnight), but I'll fit it a chapter of Dynasty here and there.

Just finished A Short History of the World According to Sheep by Sally Coulthard - and it is just what the title offers - the "who'd have believed it" fascinating impact of sheep on world history.

In the middle of: Creativity by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. It's a tome of a book but so interesting about innovation and creativity and what leads to it.

Just finished watching Season 2 of Recipes for Love and Murder.  It was really good! And the food...

So good!

Smart. Extremely well written. Well acted. Cinematography, sets, music - just everything. And above all - it's really good Star Wars!
