If you're selling on B&N, check your royalty reports

Starting with sales on the 20th, my reports are showing that my books at $2.99, which should be getting a 65% royalty payment ($1.94), are instead getting 40% ($1.20).  :HB I emailed them about the issue, but of course, with the holiday nobody's gotten back to me.

B&N has been so slow lately that the difference for me is only about $10 so far, but I think it would definitely be worthwhile for people making real money there to take a look at their reports and give B&N hell if necessary.  :rant

Are you dealing directly with B&N or using a distributor like D2D?

Thank you for the alert. I am seeing it only for sales from the 20th forward. The rest of the month has 1.94 for my 2.99 books. Interestingly, my 3.99 are unaffected and are showing their proper royalty. Of my collections, I only had the one at 4.99 with any sales, and that too was accurate on royalties.

Dang holidays when, not only do they do system updates that glitch, but no one is manning the support desk so we can report the glitches!

I saw that too. I've been so busy this weekend and throughout the holiday week that I forgot to contact them and inquire about that. Apparently, we only get 35% for "Retail and Distribution." I want to ask what sort of sale/customer type constitutes "Retail & Distribution?"

What do you mean, Rose? For me, this is only happening on my 2.99 titles. It didn't start until the 20th. My thinking is it is a glitch because they didn't announce a change in terms that I have seen. Dragovian (who started the thread here) noted on Kboards that the incorrect royalties started 20th.

ETA: And it's 40% on the 2.99 titles.

I also have a paperback sale that's being reported with $0 in royalty when it should be $3+, so there's definitely some sort of glitch. Doesn't help that I couldn't access their Contact Us using Firefox and finally had to switch to IE to get through to them.

I just submitted a support ticket (after checking no store was discounting me down to something lower). 

Of course, the box that flashes after hitting submit before showing the ticket number tells me something is wrong. But I did get a ticket number.

B&N is never going to pull its head out, is it?

I selected one of my books and went to the change price option. It shows "Author Royalty" at 65% and "Retail & Distribution" royalty at 35%. This could definitely be a glitch though. I checked the current royalty terms and it doesn't mention the 35% Retail & Distribution rate. It's very strange. I emailed them as well.

On that 2.99 title, 35% is going to B&N (Retail & Distribution) and 65% is going to the self/publisher.  :D It still throws me off when I haven't added a book or changed prices for some time.

Oh... Right, right, right...  I totally missed that. I was thrown off by the fact that they are paying me $1.20 for books priced at $2.99. But I thought I saw, $1.20 for Retail & Distribution.  Goodness, I must be seeing things. And my brain just ran with its own version of reality. I have to rephrase the email I sent them. Thanks for jogging my comprehension!

Update - if you didn't get a reply from customer support, I would try again. I submitted the help request just a few hours ago. They haven't found the problem, but did acknowledge it and said they are investigating it.

Update #2 - it's fixed on my dashboard and someone who didn't know there was an issue checked their account, and it doesn't show any 1.20 on 2.99.

It's fixed for me, too. I'd suggest if anyone is still seeing the incorrect royalty, they have B&N take a look.
