All genres of sci-fi welcome EXCEPT erotica. Short stories, novellas, novels are all good. No previews. **Pro editing, blurb, and cover are a must.** Any size mailing list, is okay (we all need to start somewhere.) However, multiple books are only allowed for folks with a list of 4,000 or more.

Story Origins is like BookFunnel--you offer a free short story, novella, novel and in exchange receive an email address. Unlike BookFunnel, StoryOrigins is currently free.

During my last release, I compared sales from my organic list to sales from my Story Origins / BookFunnel list. The book was full priced and wide. I found that StoryOrigins / BookFunnel subscribers DID buy, however it was about half the rate as organic subscribers.

Still, since it's free to join StoryOrigins, and free to participate, you have nothing to lose. Also, you can build your list much faster with StoryOrigins giveaway. In the end I sold as many full-priced books to my StoryOrigins / BookFunnel subs as I did to organic subs just because of sheer volume.

If only I had a mailing list.

You don't need a mailing list for this one, you use it to build a mailing list. If you don't have a mailing list you can share with family and friends and on social media.

What you do need is a short story, novella, or novel that is not in Kindle Unlimited. It needs to have a professional cover and professional editing. I do turn a lot of people away for these reasons (as an aside, I am dyslexic, if I can see your bad editing, it is REALLY BAD.)
