NEW YORK (AP) — Herman Wouk, the versatile, Pulitzer Prize winning author of such million-selling novels as “The Caine Mutiny” and “The Winds of War” whose steady Jewish faith inspired his stories of religious values and secular success, died on Friday at 103.

Wouk was just 10 days shy of his 104th birthday and was working on a book until the end, said his literary agent Amy Rennert.

The Winds of War was one of the best books I've ever read. War and Remembrance was just as great. Youngblood Hawke was another of my favorites.

Wouk was a heck of a story-teller and a wonderful writer to go along with it.

Not sure if I read The Caine Mutiny but I know I saw the movie. Humphrey Bogart?

That's how I want to go out, still telling stories. A great writer and an inspiration, he was.
I write various flavors of speculative fiction. This is my main pen name.

Hugely inspiration for me, alongside Leon Uris. And after reading so many of his books, I never did work out how to pronounce his surname properly.

Anyone?
