website sales badges for linking to the e-stores?
« on: September 23, 2018, 04:35:07 AM »
We're wide as of today. I need to find the small graphics for each store to put on our main landing page for linking the visitors to our books in Az, Az UK, Kobo, B&N, Apple, Google, and Tolino. Do I have to approach each store where we have an account or is there a handy repository I can access? Thanks, and best wishes for this new forum!

There are three approaches: take the buttons available from all the stores, take the buttons and customize them to fit your brand (at risk of getting the store angry), or using buttons with text or text links. I went with text links. A button that opens a drop menu where they can select their store.

I was never happy with any of the buttons I found and less happy with the inconsistency of the graphics provided by the stores. Though, I'm sure a good designer could whip up some buttons if you want to use them. For me, the past of least resistance was using text links.

You can alternatively do what I've done (click the links in my signature to see it in action).

It's managed by joining https://books2read.com and listing all your books which will then go away and find all of your links on all of the recognised platforms. You can then create custom links (like mine) and monitor the click thru's with each book/platform. You can even set your own affiliate links into the backend which will automatically add them to each URL as it is dynamically created by the page.

Thanks nomen and Tobias. You've both given me lots to think about. Probably simplest (for the first launch phase anyway) to use nomen's idea of a pull-down list. I was concerned with the clutter of all those little images down the side of the super-compact landing page, and that would eliminate it. The audience we're targeting is intelligent women so they'll all have experience with selecting from menus. We'll just need to make it clear to the reader she can get the books anywhere she likes. Maybe a customized montage graphic, assuming we don't violate any trademarks? Or a simple "thought balloon" graphic showing the store names, with the pull-down menu underneath.

But I also need to investigate Tobias's suggestion, too. While we're rolling out country by country to secure our initial audience I'm not concerned with affiliate programs, but once the series is established we can try different ways to optimize revenues and conversions.

Thanks again to both for your help.
