Freebooksy Editorial Feature
« on: August 20, 2019, 01:11:47 AM »
Got this from Freebooksy (Written Word Media) today.

"We wanted to let you know that we will be featuring "Ariana's Pride (A Medieval Trilogy Book 1)" as a Freebooksy Historical Romance Editorial Feature in today’s newsletter."

First time any of my books, ever, have been chosen by any promo site to be featured. Wait, years ago, ENT used to pick up books that had gone free. You could always tell when they had because downloads would soar into the thousands.

As of 11am EST, I have 244 freeloads and four sales each of books 2 and 3.

Thanks. I'm not expecting anything spectacular, but this didn't cost me a cent so I'm grateful for whatever I get.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #209 Free in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Free in Kindle Store)

#9 in Historical Fiction (Kindle Store)

This feature is coming on the heels of a Fussy Librarian ad I ran last Thursday.

Thanks, Marti. All the more exciting because I didn't have to pay for the ad.

Thanks, Marti. All the more exciting because I didn't have to pay for the ad.

I have a freebooksy ad coming out on the 22nd, and today they said, because I am a good customer, which is true because I've spent hundreds on their site, they were going to promote my book on Facebook too. Very nice.

I learned something I didn't know too. I asked if they could include the number of reviews, and they said yes. All we have to do is ask them to add it. Cool! My ad will now read:

"Over 700 Amazon reviews! At not quite fifteen, Stefan’s father finally let him board the longship Sja Vinna to take part in his first Viking raid. Yet the battle was not at all what he expected, and he soon found himself alone and stranded in Scotland. "A nice story with just the right touches of romance and violence." - Amazon reviewer."

P.S., I didn't add the Amazon reviewer - they did.

And it only took 10 years, lol. I wish Bookbub would do that, but you know, I've never asked. Hopefully, I'll remember to next time I want to spend a fortune for one day and only one book.

This book is my oldest at ten years 5/19 and only has 26 reviews. My most reviewed book has 69 and my most popular has 60.

But then, I've read and enjoyed The Viking myself. Congrats again.

Did you request the editorial review through their website? And if so, was it far in advance of your promotion?  Thanks.

I didn't request it at all. They sent me an email telling me they were going to feature the book. Big surprise. Great surprise. I haven't promoted with them in months. Too expensive for me.

Thanks. So far, I've got 1167 freeloads and 28 sales on Amazon. There's been some activity through D2D with two sales. Also had page reads on Amazon but I haven't had that book in KU for maybe a year. The feature probably reminded someone they'd downloaded the book to read so they started reading it now.

The same happened to me last month with a new permafree prequel I put out. I was totally shocked. Netted a lot of downloads, especially for zombies! I was totally happy to get that email from them. I did write them back and let them know how well it did. They seemed to appreciate that, so you might want to do the same.

Well done - these seem like good results especially when it was unexpected. I like the fact that they contacted you.

I'm up to 35 sales and downloads are continuing. I have 152 freeloads for today and that's three days after the feature ran. I'm very happy with the results.

It's really hard to find great covers for historical novels. I keep yelling - No! The Vikings did not have horns on their helmets, lol.

That's where the eraser feature comes in handy.

I mostly picked out my own images. I know what I want, but I'm rubbish at typography. I was lucky with the medieval trilogy because the font works on it's own with very little effort from me. The Regan (WWII) series was another story. Couldn't get the typography right to save my life so I got a cover designer. Still picked out the images myself.
