Design Cut's Birthday Celebration!

Cue the Kermit running around with his arms waving in the air gif

This is the best month of the year at Design Cuts. So, go and visit the site because it's a birthday celebration people and you won't be disappointed.

But on with the bundles!!!!! And there are so many of them and all for $29! https://www.designcuts.com/live-bundles/

So the following are the typeface bundles with my comments and the ones with asterisks are my personal favorites. I tried to rank them in order, but it's personal and based on just how versatile a bundle is. If it comes with a serif, I am all over it. If it's a straight design bundle, it has to be super special for me to grab it.

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-font-lovers-versatile-library/ (Buy this one. Buy it now. I mean right now. Hermann is brilliant, seriously, brilliant. I have used it for both print and ebooks and LOVVVVVE it. Also, it is filled up with fonty goodness. Brilon, Brignola, Quiche Sans... hell, all of them. There is not a single clunker in this bundle. BEST BUNDLE EVER - buy this puppy right now.)**

https://www.designcuts.com/product/supreme-quality-font-bundle/ (Okay, this is a tie with designers essential and the only reason it's not number one on my list is because I absolutely adore Hermann - however it does edge out the designers essential just slightly because this will be a bundle that carries you for your entire career... Garamond and Neuzit, both from URW. Plus it has Blacker, which is one of those typefaces that has grown in popularity (this is the original release, not the updated version - but still a good family))

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-designers-essential-font-selection/ (Run, do not stop to pass go and collect $200, and grab this bundle - if you only grab one bundle, grab the font lovers versatile library, but if you're buying 2 - grab this one too!)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-complete-iconic-font-library-rerun/ (This one is a close second to the designers essential and supreme quality - you seriously can't go wrong with this collection and it even has one of my no-fail fonts for print! Just a great option)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-font-gurus-essential-library-rerun/ (This is an odd one, because at first glance you might not think it's a good option, but once I started playing with it, I absolutely fell in love with it and I think it has a lot of potential. If you haven't found that typeface you are in love with that fits your needs, you might find it in here - plus it comes with Janson and TT Barrels (I was pleasantly surprised with how Barrels looked on the page)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/essential-popular-fonts-collection/ (Only reason this isn't higher on my list is it doesn't have a workhorse serif. However, this was the first bundle that won me over to design cuts and it is brilliant. If you write fantasy, grab this for Yana. Marschel is like Cinzel, but a hundred times better. Rig and Roijer are great. Oh, and there's some brilliant sans, Acherus and URW Geometric. And Bodoni Sans... well you get the picture, it's a great bundle but if you're limiting yourself, I'd recommend one with a strong serif.)**

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-definitive-font-selection-rerun/ (This is another one of those, holy crap this is filled with fonty goodness bundles. But it's all about branding and design. This is a drool-worthy bundle.)**

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-definitive-type-lovers-collection-rerun/ (Grab this bundle for Alfons... everything else is a bonus. Alfons is a workhorse decorative super family that will handle any and every project you have. If you bought this family on it's own, i would cost you $160.)**

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-influential-font-lovers-library/  (Has some great options for branding/design, but also comes with URW++ Futura)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-professional-versatile-font-selection-rerun/ (Some great options here)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-exceptional-best-selling-font-selection-rerun/ (Gonna be honest, I would grab this just for Din, which is a standby work-horse sans)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-essential-versatile-font-collection/ (Another good bundle with some strong decorative/branding typefaces)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/superior-quality-versatile-font-families-rerun/ (If you're a Laura Worthington fan, this is the bundle for you, plus it has some other great options)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/complete-quality-font-collection/ (This is a Sans lover's dream - it also has some great branding/marketing fonts - plus you can make your cover designer use these and embed them in an epub for chapter displays with the extended license)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/the-professional-dynamic-font-library-rerun/ (Great all around collection, except it's missing a good serif work-horse)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/complete-font-lovers-library/ (Strong design bundle, lots of great fonts for ads/covers/chapterdisplays)

https://www.designcuts.com/product/best-selling-font-families-re-run/ (Okay, gonna be honest, not my favorite. I passed on this, but only because I think there are other bundles with better fonts -there are good fonts here, but I have an aversion to the handwritten typefaces and this bundle is full of them)

And then there are some great little one-offs too https://www.designcuts.com/live-exclusives/

I have a few of these already, but they are great additions to your toolbox.

And let's not forgive the freebies! https://www.designcuts.com/live-freebies/

Okay... go and visit and gobble up the goodies!

I had to stop myself after buying three of those bundles the other day. I don't even know when I'll use them but now I know I can use Baskerville and Bodoni if I want to and that makes me happy.

There are 17 font bundles available. 17! If you can afford it, I recommend choosing one bundle with a serif (Hermann, Baskerville, or Garamond) and then one of the design fonty goodness bundles. Like the Definitive Type Lovers or Definitive Font Selection.

Plus, I would take a look at some of those design bundles. Grabbing one that has a few options that fit your brand could carry you a long way. I found one design bundle that has 4 different files I can and will use.

Something I've always been curious about (and probably a dumb question): these bundles are really mostly useful for people that make their own covers and format their own books for print, right?

If I have a designer make covers for me, they would have to buy the font themselves, wouldn't they? (I'm thinking also of people who have a consistent font for their author name across multiple designers...)

If you don't create any assets, then no, these bundles probably wouldn't interest you. Unless you want to embed fonts into an ebook and use Vellum.
