Previewing the book on Kobo

I uploaded a new file for a book and can't get the preview on Kobo to work. I tried it in Explorer and in Firefox (where it asked me if I wanted to open it with Internet Explorer, which I really don't get).

Any suggestions?  This is the epub file generated by D2D. The file looks fine in the D2D previewer, but I like to double check it in the Kobo previewer.

I'll email Kobo if I can't figure it out.  I have a book in the 50% off promo next week and I wanted to put a new file up with a preview of my newest book.

I usually download the file to my hard drive to preview it.  Will it allow you to do that?  Can you just download the file and preview it that way?

If you can't make it work very soon, I'd definitely contact Kobo about it.  Make sure to tell them that the book is in one of their promotions.  Tell them which promotion, too, so they can see the date and realize the necessity of quick action.

Thanks, I emailed Kobo and sent them the file.  I'll see what they say.

PS - Are you doing the 50% off promo?  I sold one book at Kobo in November, in that 40% off promo we talked about.  I just can't make Kobo work and it seems to be getting worse.  I'm polishing up an older book and put my latest in the back, I'm going to be offering that at 99 cents sometime to try to get some eyes on it and interest in the new book. I sold 6 copies of that book on Amazon last year and this year combined, so I have nothing to lose with it.  I figure the only way to get any traction at Kobo is to go 99 cents with something, but it is just a guess.

Update - Kobo says they don't have a previewer, you have to download the file and look at it with Calibre or something.  I've never done that.

I really think I am losing my mind, I used to upload the epubs to Kobo and cross my fingers that they worked, but then they got a previewer! Yay!

So now I'm back to the finger crossing.

I really should turn off the ads and crawl under a rock and stay there until January 2nd.

If, as seems likely, you keep doing business with Kobo, I'd recommend getting Adobe Digital Editions (free). It's a good tool for viewing epubs, and not at all hard to use. Calibre probably isn't hard to use, either, but I haven't ever used it myself.

Calibre is wonderful.  You really should at least try it out.
