Facebook / Amazon and the Middle East
« on: February 10, 2020, 11:30:24 PM »
I ran a facebook ad a month ago about my book and targeted the Middle East - because my book takes place in the Middle East (WWI / Lawrence). In 5 days (total spend $15) I had over 40,000 impressions and 9000 engagements and many messages. There is certainly an interest.

My book has launched and I would like to run a facebook ad again to target the Middle East to purchase the book, but I have read there is a problem buying ebooks via kindle in some Middle East countries. Yet there seems to be many kindle readers in the Middle East. I am not sure what link in my Facebook ad to use (.com, .uk, etc.)  Seems that many purchase via the .uk link from what I have read, but I can't be sure.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thought: You'll only get 35% royalty on sales that way. Be prepared for it.
Genres: Space Opera/Fantasy/Cyberpunk, with elements of LitRPG and GameLit, with a touch of the Supernatural. Also Spiritual and Games.

Souq recently became Amazon.ae

Thank you.
My book is listed there.
I just ran an ad pointing to that site.

Fingers Crossed.

The ad is approved and running. Have 800+ impressions in an hour and 10+ clicks.
amazon.ae only offers the paperback - but at least it is on there.

Will let you know how it goes.
Thank you.

I might suggest checking the list to see in which Middle Eastern countries Kindle books are not for sale and excluding them from your ad audience. It isn't the whole Middle East, obviously, but there's no point in targeting traffic to places where the book can't be bought.

I placed this first test ad related only to the paperback and to countries that had access to order from amazon.ae
I am still researching kindle. amazon.ae doesn't offer kindle ebooks (just the readers) at this time.

Interesting that it would have one but not the other. However, it's not unique in that respect. Amazon's China store that last time I looked includes those "Tell the author you want to read this book on Kindle," links, even though the store didn't have Kindle books available.

On amazon.ae I am unable to find a link to ebook or kindle.
I did notice that the ships and sold from section changes every time I view it - currently it is listed as Panworld Global.
It has also dropped in price from AED 85.50 to AED 75.25 today

I will keep watching and I will post at the end of the week my Facebook results.
