I contacted Michael about a year ago and he sent me a pdf of his rates. He wanted something like £3K a month (can't remember if it was pounds or dollars) which, at the time, was about all I had to my name. I thanked him and backed off.

Your warning is timely as I was thinking of contacting him again - now that, thanks to a new series, my finances have improved.

Well that was an interesting read. I'm always slightly bummed out by what the stock market has become. It could be good for everyone, way for companies to get capital, way for people to invest in ideas/products they believe in and share in the company's profitability for taking that risk. And now. Blech.

For the past month or so I've been checking his FB feed for status updates. In them he talks about the equities markets a fair deal. Now I can understand why his observations are so insightful. That bit about traded shares not really being shares would be frightening had I had any $ in the markets.

The stock market is most crooked when one gets into the complicated investments. I follow the Bogle random walk theory of investing (buy the whole market, hold) because it makes sense to me. I make no efforts to find undervalued companies and make killings on individual stocks. Most honest people think they know more than they know, and then there are the crooks. 

I edited a textbook on managerial accounting a few years ago, and the crookedness of that was equally astounding. Shell game.

Russell Blake's life sounds entirely too interesting.
