We've recently heard word of a scammer pretending to be a "creative editor and sourcer for Escape Artists Inc," soliciting work toward a full-time position working for PseudoPod.

Please spread the word if you're so inclined; we have no idea how many early-career nobodies might've been scammed already.

If you receive (or received) an email that purports to be from any of our four fine SFWA-recognized markets (Escape Pod, PodCastle, PseudoPod, Cast of Wonders), and you have even the remotest whiff of suspicion/uncertainty about it, check in with [email protected]

Never listen to people with no skin in the game.

I'm a lucky guy. I find the harder I work, the luckier I am.

Those who prefer their English sloppy have only themselves to thank if the advertisement writer uses his mastery of the vocabulary and syntax to mislead their weak minds.

Trying to wrap my head around the scam. Are they trying to collect personal information? Steal copyright material? Play the "pay us $50 for an application fee" scheme? Is there any additional information on what the actual scheme might be?

I'm wondering what the scam is too. I looked up some stuff on it, but it's all about the misrepresentation but not what that person is trying to get from folks.
