A new book promotion review site by Bookraid
« on: May 12, 2023, 01:06:28 AM »
This is an interesting idea--one I've never seen before. Bookraid, an advertisement model promo company, has just opened up a promotion review page for authors to review their promotion, along with others. I've never seen promotion companies reviewed before. Though reviews are the bane of our existence (they make us cry and smile), this service provides insight into how promo companies are doing and which ones to look at for any planned newsletter promotion. Thoughts?

I decided to write a few reviews myself. I only picked promo sites I was happy with. I don't like leaving bad reviews. This is kinda my personal philosophy. I've gotten stung to many times myself. Positive reviews are useful too.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Good idea, bad? Take a gander here:

Had to laugh at Bookbub.

Half the reviews are about their ad system, not the featured ads which Bookraid would want reviewed.

Only a single one star, and it was spot on.

The rest are all unjustified 5 stars imo, and all missing the point that getting a BB feature is impossible for most authors.

I'm reluctant to get involved there, because my BB review would be 1 star as well, just on the basis of how exclusive they are.
Genres: Space Opera/Fantasy/Cyberpunk, with elements of LitRPG and GameLit, with a touch of the Supernatural. Also Spiritual and Games.

I think if this takes off, the reviews will start leveling off. Then BB will get more one stars  :icon_rofl: The site just started yesterday and if there's more like a few hundred reviews instead of a handful, the ratings should be broader. If not, you're right and the idea is a wash. :shrug
