Results of promo Bookdoggy v eBookDaily
« on: January 24, 2025, 05:27:45 AM »
Free Promo of Leon Chameleon PI and the case of the missing canary eggs 16-20 January.

BookDoggy charges the same fee of $21 for all genres. Approx. 160 downloads

eBookDaily fee was $5 (Children?s books are a difficult sell, hence the lower price for this genre.) approx. 62 downloads

I made the book free on 16th January and did some self-promo.
Facebook garnered three shares.
X got me one follower.
Goodreads one comment.
KBoards no comments.
Found a lot of book people on BlueSky and followed them, got some followers back.
All this tiresome work got me the grand total of two downloads.

U.S. starting stats 16th January,
?   Best Sellers Rank: #62,794 Free in Kindle Store
o   #23 in Children's Detectives Books
o   #26 in Children's Bird Books (Kindle Store)

Bookdoggy came in on 17th January.
I got 161 downloads including from the UK, Canada, Australia, France and Germany
?   Best Sellers Rank: #1,091 Free in Kindle Store
o   #2 in Children's Bird Books (Kindle Store)
o   #2 in Children's Detectives Books

eBookdaily came in on 18th.
Downloads reached 223 meaning an increase of 62 through eBookDaily.
?   Best Sellers Rank: #1,241 Free in Kindle Store
o   #1 in Children's Bird Books (Kindle Store)
o   #1 in Children's Detectives Books

(Time differences often mean I don?t catch the best ranking numbers)

Free promo finished on 20th Jan with a total of 230 downloads

I?m hoping to eventually see a few sales of the paperback versions.

Unfortunately BookBub won?t accept my children?s books as they are not the right page length for their customers (so they say). This despite the fact that Bheki and the Magic Light was published by Penguin and is an industry standard, and my Leon books were trad published by Gecko Books.

I really appreciate you sharing your stats. Better results with ebookdaily?... hmm. I've honestly never used Ebookdaily. Now you're making me consider it. How do you advertise with them? I don't see an advertise section on their website. Do you have to sign up?

https://author.ebookdaily.com/   You look under 'Help' and then 'for authors'.

Can't say I had better results. 161 downloads for $21 v 62 downloads for $5.
BookDoggy did include Australia, France, Canada and Germany. I haven't noticed France and Germany on previous eBookDaily results.
Will see if I get any sales from France or Germany.

Those are pretty good results. The main benefit comes from the downloads you'll keep getting from the visibility on Amazon. So keep up with the following days of the promo and see how many more downloads you get. Book Doggy used to be $18 but they went up last year.

I have been checking sales and reviews. So far I have sold the grand total of one print copy, and no new reviews  :icon_rolleyes:

You put in a lot of effort, Jan. I hope it gets you some sales down the road.

It is a lot of work - and with little reward  :icon_rolleyes:

Trying another promo with Public Speaking - Banish the butterflies. next week. Will see how that goes. I also want to try a promo for Headmaster and list it as Romance with a twist (it was a quarter-finalist in the ABNA romance comp way back), but I think there will be a lot of competition around Valentine's month so I'll wait a bit.  :)

Tails and reviews are so much more limited than they once were. Good luck next week, Jan! And thanks for letting us know about ebookdaily.

I ran a promo with ebookdaily last week. I'll share here, but, honestly, I'm not sure which stat was from which promo; KDP reports is so delayed now making things very difficult to track. Also, understand that my free book has been permafree for 2 months and was run at same time as my BookBub boxed set promo last week on 4th (that was the point of it; not for free book giveaway but to enhance the boxed set sales).
Here's my breakdown for my free book sales:
Feb 5: EreaderIQ $15, Bookspry $7
Feb 6: KNP free book highlighter ($29.99); ebookdaily $15
Feb 7: fussylibrarian fantasy ($41 w special discount last week)
"Sales" or giveaway:
Feb5:  353
Feb6: 117
Feb 7: 176
Feb 8: 81
Feb 9: 318
I didn't track wide retailers so there's more, though far less.
Maybe you think the 1st spike is from the BookBub on the 4th. No. My 4th "sales" for my free book were only 12. "353" from delayed sales? I don't think so, I think it was Bookspry scifi/fantasy. The prequel short story is not directly linked to the HUW series. It's "related". Also I didn't run a free promo on BookDoggy. I used Bookdoggy to promote the $2.99 boxed set on the 4th.

My book promo was for Beltane Fire , a paranormal fantasy/romance/suspense
Most sales were US. Here's Amazon stats this month: United States 935, United Kingdom 58, Canada 47, Australia 32, Germany 6, Netherlands 5, France 1 . Kobo sales are typically Canada. There were 70 "sales" in Kobo.
