Hardcover special additions

I'm looking into creating collector additions of some of my books in hardcover form. I've published hardcovers before, but they're all through Amazon with my standard formatting. I'm wondering what magic any of you have added to make the hardcover special? If I want to do a kickstarter in the future, for example, I'd like to offer something with the printing. Perhaps images within the book and along the spine.

Have any of you done any of these special hardcover editions? What did you add to make it special and what printer did you use?

The Kickstarter groups on Facebook are a good place to get those details.  I haven't done any fancy hardcovers, but many people do.  Some order from China...others in the US.

Thanks, Lorri. I was hoping others here would have recommendations on resources.

I think I remember Joanna Penn writing something about creating these, so I'll take a look there.

If anybody's done one, please let me know.
