Library pays reading fees to authors

Afraid you'll be too feeble to write, or your early books will no longer be selling in your old age?
The UK developed a system to help writers in their old age
.
The goverment finances a special library fund that each year counts book loans.
Then the writers get a slice of the financial pie.
So even if a novel written years ago is still circulating, the author gets some money.

Sorta like the Amazon fund for page reads.

The authors must be British, and there is a cap on the amount an author can receive.
The tally is made by a group of the libraries, and the group changes each year, I believe.

The U.S. should consider such a system.

Canada has something like that. My friend said the payments have gotten lower though. And I'm not really sure of the details. I think it's more than just libraries.
Genre: Science Fiction

This is okay, but you probably need to get your books into the library's and then get them signed up to this list. I've never heard of it so I'm going to put it onto my DYOR list and if I ever find out more I'll get back to this thread.

This is Public Lending Rights, and the PLR scheme operates in some other countries too I believe. Go here to learn more: https://www.bl.uk/plr/

They don't pay out to authors who accrue less than £1 a year.
