New book release

After writing four series following the MacGreagor Clan through the Viking years up to WWI, I switched to mysteries. Boredom, mostly. Anyway, it's been a struggle getting my fans to switch with me. One reader said if it's not about the MacGreagors she doesn't want to hear from me. Okay, I deleted her from my mailing list.

I released The Kings of the Seven Bells, my first attempt at fantasy on Sunday. It will likely be my only attempt as building a world was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Changing genre is just like starting over.

Marketing - that's the problem. I have two AMS ads that have just started running. I can't be sure, but none of my over 3000 followers on Bookbub have picked it up. But then, they are geared toward free books. So far, I've sold 15 on Amazon and 2 through D2D, so that would be Apple or Nook. Of course, no reviews yet. I sent out over 700 emails in my newsletter.

Suggestions?

Read The Swindler, a historical romance available at:
Amazon, Apple, Google Play, Kobo & Nook

I've had a bit of experience starting series in completely new (to me) genres.  I'm sure you've done most of these, but my first move is to ensure the book is in at least 5 or 6 relevant categories on KDP, use Publisher Rocket to get the best 7 keyword strings I can, target authors and book titles which I believe are close to my own work (on AMS), run FB CPC ads targeting same.

Next up, newsletter swaps with people in the same genre.  On bookfunnel people run 'sales' promos as well, where you're not giving away books, just publicising a landing page which directs people to the actual store page on their chosen retailer.

With one of mine I resorted to moving it into KU, setting up free days and publicising those.  I've only just finished the second novel in that series, though, and I believe it could be harder to generate sales and buzz with a single novel.

Thanks, I'll check those out. I think I'll let this book stay wide for a couple of weeks and then put it in KU.
